Ally Bank - Even Kids

These commercials have been airing for 8 months now and I just can't get enough of them.

BBH New York's campaign for Ally Bank is - in university student vocabulary - friggen awesome. This campaign features a man offering children different things (for example - to play with a red truck, pet a pony, ride a bike, etc), and then abruptly taking them away from these children with excuses such as, "The fine print states 'for a limited time only.'" Their headline is "Even kids know..." followed by a correction of whatever excuse comes up in that specific commercial.

The kids are cute, the commercials are funny, how could you go wrong?

Cetelem Responsible Loans - "Bingo Credit"

TBWA Paris' ads for Cetelem Responsible Loans are definitely worth a watch whether you're into advertising or not. This specific spot features a sleazy man from "Bingo Credit," a fictional company "that cares" with money vending machines, gorgeous women answering the phones, motorcycles that deliver your money straight to you, and multigenerational loans for your children.

Then the ad is ripped from the screen by Cetelem's (odd little green) mascot, and the narrator says, "Credit should never be like this. Choose Cetelem's Responsible Loans."

Cute cute cute.

Domino's "Pizza Turnaround"

Recently I have been seeing quite a few statements of dislike for Domino's Pizza's new campaign. I, however, find it refreshing.

In this campaign by Colorado's Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Domino's faces the facts - their pizza sucks. Comments like, "Domino's crust is like cardboard," "Bring on the processed cheese," "Microwave pizza is far superior," "The crust seemed a bit lacking," and so on are all mentioned, and that's what I like about it. Domino's isn't afraid to tell the truth to the public and let us all know that they're actually dealing with their problems.

While on TV, the spot is quite a bit shorter, online there is a 4 minute "documentary" on how Domino's fixed the aforementioned issues with their pizza and created a new superior pie. Check it out.

Ford "Do Knot Forget"

Ogilvy Germany came out with a new print ad for Ford that seems a little absurd at first. It showcases fifteen different knots made by iPod earphones (and I'm sure we've all found our earphones brutally tied up at some point. My favorite is the Sheetbend Double).

So what does this have to do with Ford cars? The headline explains. "Do knot forget. Bluetooth comes with every new Ford." Meaning? You won't have to use those pesky earbuds again.

LG's "Big Laundry"

Ok I'm back, and first I want to talk about Young & Rubicam New York's new commercial for an LG washer. "It's the next big thing. 11 kilogram capacity in a standard-sized washer," the ad states.

And what better way to advertise 11 kg capacity then to have giant articles of clothing hanging out to dry in different locations, such as off of an apartment building, or even a bridge while Here We Go Magic's "Everything's Big" plays in the background?

So the ad (featured below) is a little odd, and the idea is even more so, but it's a pretty unique idea and a nice contrast to their usual product-demonstration themed ads. Thoughts anyone?

Droid Billboard

Wow, it's been a while! I'm finally done exams, back from my California vacation, and getting back into the routine of class... which means I'll be back to blogging a little more often very soon!

For now, I'm just going to post a picture I took of a billboard in California.  This one, for the Droid, goes along with their commercials (previously blogged on). This billboard says "A bare-knuckled bucket of does. In a world of doesn't."

It's pretty cool.. but do people who perhaps don't own televisions (or somehow missed the TV ads) get the whole effect?
